-
150
mm
|
Hibernation |
egg
(
dormant larva
)
|
Larva |
Grown larva: tetra molter
: takes about 45 days from hatching to spinning
|
Host Plants |
In addition to Quercus acutissima leaves, leaves of Quercus myrsinifolia, Quercus glauca and Quercus serrata were used in subculturing |

Name
|
Antheraea pernyi
Guérin-Méneville
|
Origin |
People's Republic of China. Breeding started in Japan in year 1877.
|
Adult |
wingspan of
110
-
130
mm
|
Hibernation |
pupa
|
Larva |
Grown larva: tetra molter
: takes about 45 days from hatching to spinning
|
Host Plants |
Quercus acutissima leaves were used in subculturing. Similar to Antheraea yamamai Guerin-Meneville |
Voltinism |
It happens once or twice a year. First generation is in May to July and second generation is in August to September. Breeding period can be adjusted if pupa is cyropreserved. Voltinism and day length is closely related. At age 5 (4th larval instar), more than 15 hours of daylight will result in non-diapause but less than 13 hours of daylight will result in diapause. |
