Basic Information
CGSNL Gene Symbol PIGM
Gene Symbol Synonym Pigm(t), Pi-gm(t), Pigm
CGSNL Gene Name PYRICULARIA ORYZAE RESISTANCE GM
Gene Name Synonym Magnaporthe grisea resistance-gm, Blast resistance gm
Protein Name
Allele
Chromosome No. 6
Explanation Original line is Gumei4 (Indica). The allelism test showed that Pigm was allelic to Pi-2 and Pi-9, two known blast resistance genes (Deng el a. 2009). The Pigm(t) locus between the markers C5843 and C0428 contains 6 candidate genes Os06g0286500, Os06g0286700, Os06g0287000, Os06g0287200, Os06g0287500 and LOC_Os06g17910(a pseudogene) (Deng et al. 2009). Pigm(t) is one of the NBS-LRR genes in the Pi2/Pi9 cluster on chromosome 6 (Zhu et al. 2012). The rice Pigm locus contains a cluster of genes encoding nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat (NLR) receptors that confer durable resistance to the fungus Magnaporthe oryzae without yield penalty.
