Strain information
Strain ID MT1049
Strain Name sox5^F543I
Strain Type Mutants
Characteristics As a result of TILLING screening, TILLING_MUTANT(ID:2283) (TA2283) was identified as a mutant with a single nucleotide substitution in sox5 exon13.Homozygous mutant embryos and larvae have excess leucophores and lack xanthophores. Similarly, homozygous adult fish have excess leucophores, but unlike at earlier stages, they have xanthophores significantly reduced in number. Formation of melanophores and iridophores is not affected in this mutant. This strain is OK-Cab background.

MT1048-1049 sox5 mutant
The mutant hatchlings exhibit excess and ectopic leucophores and no xanthophore. Leucophores are shown in the darkfield image (left panel). Xanthophores are not detectable under UV light (right panel).
