T5-Tg(avt-egfp)

Strain information
Strain ID TG976
Strain Name T5-Tg(avt-egfp)
Strain Type Transgenics
Characteristics This transgenic line derived from T5 strain expresses EGFP under the control of the translation of the arginine vasotocin(avt) gene. EGFP signals are detected in brain of 2-dpf embryo, and continuously shown in adult brain. Until early stage of hatched juveniles, EGFP signals can be detected under a fluorescent microscope without fixation or dissection. In adult brain, EGFP signals are able to be detected in preoptic area and pituitary in live brain slices and/or frozen sections. The cells with EGFP signals are confirmed to be AVT neurons by double-immunohistochemistry using anti-AVT and anti-EGFP antibodies.
Notes Please note that we will use OK-Cab (MT830) for artificially insemination with frozen sperm of this strain.

TG976_T5-Tg(avt-egfp)_map
The avt-GFP construct is the modified fosmid clone. The EGFP-poly(A)-Km fragment (Kimura et al., 2006) was inserted at the translation initiation site of avt gene in a fosmid clone (GOLWFno393_p20).

TG976_T5-Tg(avt-egfp)_6 dpf
At 6 dpf, several pairs of EGFP signals are shown between telencephalon and optic tectum, and at the central part of optic tectum.

TG976_T5-Tg(avt-egfp)_adult brain
In the oblique sections of adult brain, somata and fibers with EGFP signals are shown in preoptic area, anterior and posterior hypothalamus.

TG976_T5-Tg(avt-egfp)_adult pituitary
EGFP signals are also shown in adult pituitary (sagittal section).
