Two frameshift mutations (a four-base deletion and a five-base insertion) was induced by the CRISPR/Cas9 system on the short wavelength sensitive type 2a (SWS2a) and SWS2b opsin genes, respectively. Body-color preferences during mate choice are relaxed, possibly due to a problem in color discrimination. Blue-light sensitivity is normal as the wild-type. There were no differences in phenotypes between sws2a single mutant, sws2b single mutant and double mutant for sws2a and sws2b as the result of the experiment on Kanazawa et al. 2020.
Notes
Background of this mutant is ci (MT15) or Actb-SLa:GFP (TG1147), but we use OK-Cab (MT830) embryos in artificially- insemination. Please note that we will use OK-Cab (MT830) for artificially insemination with frozen sperm of this strain.
