A 19 bp was deleted in exon 1 of typeX collagen a1 a (col10a1a) gene by the TALEN genome editing system. This mutation is expected to introduce frame-shift mutation, resulting in truncation of the C-terminus of the col10a1a protein. The homozygous mutants show normal development of skeletal structures, and they are viable and fertile.
