sp7^TAL2

Strain information
Strain ID MT1241
Strain Name sp7^TAL2
Strain Type Mutants
Characteristics A 8 bp was deleted in exon 2 of sp7 gene, which is also known as osterix (osx), by the TALEN genome editing system. This mutation is expected to introduce frame-shift mutation, resulting in truncation of the C-terminus of the sp7 protein, including the zinc-finger domain. The mutation position of sp7^TAL2 (MT1241) is different from that of sp7^TAL1 (MT1240). This mutant showed severe defects in the formation of skeletal structures. In particular, the neural and the hemal arches were not formed, although the chordal centra were formed. There were no differences in the skeletal phenotypes between the sp7^TAL1 (MT1240) and sp7^TAL2 (MT1241) mutants. The homozygous mutant is non-viable and died around 14 days after hatching.
