ERATO Kondoh Project - 1
Submitter Tomomi Watanabe   Observed in gall bladder
Attribute color   Value abnormal
Phenotype
Manifestation

Note
Comment Affected the color of bile in the gall bladder. Bile in the wild-type embryo at st. 35 was light green. The bile colors in this mutants were orange. suo mutant embryos hatched and homozygotes were fertile. To determine whether these mutations affect either erythropoiesis or hemoglobin-bile metabolism, we first carried out hemoglobin staining with o-dianisidine. The blood vessels and heart, but not the gall bladder, were stained in suo mutant embryos. a-0, a-1, and b-1. a-0, a-1, and b-1 globins were expressed in suo mutants at st. 33 using in situ hybridization.

Live embryos. The bile colors in this mutants were orange. White arrow heads and white broken lines indicate the gall bladder and margin of the liver, respectively. Black to brownish spots are melanophores on the yolk.
