| Comment | PGCs formed tight bilateral clumps in wild-type embryos at st. 27. In shimogamo (smgj41-13D) mutant embryos, however, PGCs did not coalesce but were loosely aligned in bilateral rows in the region more anterior than normal PGC clusters. The homozygous smg mutation caused lethality and other morphogenetic defects such as small lenses at st. 26, an increased space between the lens and posterior retina at st. 26, and cystic pronephric ducts from 3 dpf (days postfertilization). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
