*11.1.2 Acridine orange staining

Acridine orange (AO) is a vital dye that stains apoptotic cells, but not necrotic cells.

**11.1.2.1 Reagents

-5 µg/ml acridine orange (AO) solution
-medaka ringer solution

**11.1.2.3. Method
+Larva or adult fish are incubated in AO solution for 30 to 60 min in the dark.
+Wash several times with medaka ringer solution.
+Signals are detected using the green (FITC) filter set with a fluorescence microscope.
