  • To provide a portal site for science researchers to find where they can obtain resource information. moremore...

The genetic resource mentioned above is defined as experimental materials, which contain genetic materials, such as DNA/RNA, and can be amplified, stored and re-distributed to researchers according their requests (e.g. animal live stocks, frozen embryo, plant seeds, cultured cells, DNA clones, etc.). The SHIGEN project is being carried out at the Center for Genetic Resource Information, National Institute of Genetics, Mishima, Japan. The center was established in 1998, undertaking the role of an information archive of genetic resources in Japan. The National BioResource Project ( NBRP ) was started in July, 2002. The SHIGEN group is strongly involved in the project as an Information Center of NBRP.
GRC and NBRP is funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan.
