This is a female moth which I saw when I was doing outdoor fieldwork. The Antheraea yamamai of Nagano prefecture can be seen from end of July until middle of September. In warm regions, the moth can be seen as late as in early October. Female moths seldom gather around the light but male moths usually fly towards it. Usually, the female moth will fly over earlier compared to the males. The male moth often flies over after 10pm and in some places, it is possible to see large groups of Antheraea yamamai after midnight. The color of their wings is varied from yellow to blackish brown. The antenna of the male and female is notably different.
