Further studies on the synthesis of a permanent RT-heterozygote in Einkorn wheat

In WIS No. 3, it was reported that an attempt to combine the lethal genes into a ring complex was in progress in Einkorn wheats, so that the plant maintains an RT-heterozygosity as (6)= d-efl / dle-f, where d-e and e-f are the translocation chromosomes, dl involves lethal-1 and fl lethal-2, respectively. The object has been attained partly as shown in the following table.

In the former strains, in which fl chromosome with lethal-2, namely, fl, is not involved in the ring complex, (6)+4II and 7II segregated in a ratio of 1:1, while in the latter, in which fl chromosome is involved in the ring complex, the segregation of (6)+4II and 7II was 2:1, indicating that half number of 7II-segregants died off due to the balanced lethal mechanism. dl chromosome was not combined successfully though attempted. Further studies ate in progress.
