With the methods of fractional precipitation with ethanol and pyridine,
ion exchange chromatogram and electrophoresis, the substance was purified
and isolated and was found to be composed of only amino acids, as was
published in Ann. Meet. Agr. Chem. Soc. Japan5 (1967). By further
studies, it has been found that moleculer weight of the toxic substance
was estimated to be 9,800, and its isoelectric point was higher than pH
10.0. The details are now in press.
Acknowlegement
The authors wish to express their heartfelt thanks to Professor K. YAMASHITA,
Kyoto University, for his kindness of supplying the material of wheat
species and his valuable advices throughout the present experiments. The
authors wish also to express their thanks to Prof. R. TAKAHASHI, Okayama
University, for his generosity of supplying barley species.
