Explanation

Spontaneous;homozygotes survive about ten days as first instar larvae with lustrous skin, mostly die without molting, some pass through first molt survive further one week as second instar larvae and then die; hemolymph protein composition before death show mixed pattern characteristic of young larvae and of grown larvae, hence classified as “aging-type”, while other non-molting mutants are “juvenile-type” showing patterns of young larvae during alive.
